About Core Keeper Saves

Core Keeper (Pugstorm) stores each character in a plain-text JSON file (since update 0.5.1.0) under the Pugstorm\Core Keeper\Steam\<steamid>\saves folder, named by save-slot index. This editor reads that JSON so you can adjust max health, Ancient Coins, skill levels, character type (Standard/Hardcore) and the Souls unlock flag. World and map files (.world.gzip / .mapparts.gzip) use a proprietary compressed binary format and are not editable, but the plain-text .worldinfo file (name, seed, difficulty) is supported. Back up with Ctrl+Alt+B in the main menu and edit only while the game is closed so Steam Cloud doesn't overwrite your changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are Core Keeper save files stored?

On Windows: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Pugstorm\Core Keeper\Steam\<steamid>\saves. Character data is in <slot>.json files, worlds in /worlds (.world.gzip).

Can I edit health, hunger, or my inventory items?

The character JSON exposes max health, coins, skills and flags. Current health and the hunger meter are runtime values kept in the binary world file, so they usually aren't in the JSON.

My edits keep getting reverted — why?

Steam Cloud re-syncs your old save on launch. Edit only while the game is fully closed, and disable Steam Cloud for Core Keeper.
